Sinclair Elementary will be holding their Pre-K and Kindergarten Round-Up on Thursday, April 7th.  There will be two registration times available:

• 8:30 am – Children are invited to attend.  They will have the opportunity to meet the teachers and create a craft with them.

• 6:00 pm – This evening session will be strictly informational and for registering.

To qualify for Pre-K and Kindergarten, your child must be 4 and 5 years old, as of September 1st, 2011.  Typically, Sinclair offers three types of Pre-K:  Tuition-Based Pre-K, Free English Pre-K, and Free Bilingual Pre-K (Note:  families eligible for the Free Pre-K programs must meet a series of certain criteria; see
www.houstonisd.org for further details).

Come and say hello to your neighbors. Each month containing 5 Fridays we host a meet and greet at our home for all Lazybrook residents on the 5th Friday of the month.

In the 1960’s when our neighborhood began, impromptu social gatherings were the norm. Families got together for no reason other than saying hey and catching up. The Hooper House driveway was active most Fridays. 50 years later we are in a fast paced world and we have to actively seek our neighbor’s company. The Hooper House is now our home and we too love to visit with our neighbors. This past gatherings have been full and fun. We have some very colorful folks in Lazybrook. If you aren’t coming you are missed. Come help us get to know the new neighbors, visit with the original neighbors and hear about what’s up on the different blocks.

The City of Houston Charter requires that the City Council expand to eleven single-member districts at such point that census data demonstrates that the City’s population exceeds 2.1 million residents. The City is interested in hearing from you and your neighborhood regarding your suggestions for the configuration of the new council districts. Attend this Town Hall meeting and tell us what you think.

This public town hall meeting is open to all Houstonians! The City of Houston has set up a web page detailing information regarding the redistricting process. Please check back frequently, as it will be updated as new information becomes available. Vietnamese and Spanish language versions of the site are also available.

There will NOT be a map of new districts available at the redistricting meetings. This phase of the process is designed to hear from the public BEFORE the City of Houston draws any proposed map.

In an effort to help prevent identity theft, Sheriff Adrian Garcia is extending an invitation to the public to come and shred old documents such as, old tax records, old medical records, and other personal documents free of charge. Identity theft has become one of the costliest crimes in the nation.

With that in mind, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office has teamed up with the company, Shred-It, to wage a war against identity thieves and heighten the awareness of the general public on ways to reduce their chances of becoming a victim of identity theft.

Batteries, glass and needles will not be allowed. Documents will only be accepted if they are received in file/banker boxes. Each household will be limited to 5 boxes.

Following are the scheduled dates for the Shred-It Program.  All Shred-It services will be provided at the scheduled locations from 9am-12pm.
