The Civic Club is comprised of neighbors volunteering to serve as officers to do the things that help to keep Lazybrook a great place to live. There are cycles to attendance but I’ve not seen it this low in 35 years. Our current president, Judy Dyk, has made it her goal to start on time and keep meetings to one hour.

It is under the umbrella of the Civic Club to do the following:

  • Work with our Citizens on Patrol program
  • Support the Deed Restrictions Committee and Architectural Review Committee (created in our deed restrictions and reinstated by amendments to Deed Restrictions).
  • Have a representative to Super Neighborhood
  • Maintain the neighborhood signs/landscape and mow/clean the sidewalk on 18th street
  • Keep the esplanades attractive
  • Produce the newsletter and man the website
  • Plan for National Night Out and the Christmas Lighting Contest

Deed Restrictions Committee and Architectural Review Committee:

Although many wanting to build or remodel are sometimes frustrated with the Deed Restrictions Committee and Architectural Review Committee, they can only approve what is in the deed restrictions. Those same deed restrictions are part of what makes Lazybrook great.

Think for a minute what could have/would have happened in Lazybrook during Harvey if the restrictions had been ignored and houses were lot line to lot line, or the density of housing was such as we find in nearby neighborhoods – nowhere for the water to soak in or drain. How about no place for your guests to park during parties or holidays?
